For the last decade, I have helped my clients to understand the impact of nutrition on their health and why the correct diet is essential to reach a specific goal. Food is more than a mere source of fuel for your body to keep going. Food can alter your genetics by switching particular genes on and off, affecting your health and either cause or prevent a specific disease. What we eat can impact your mood and energy levels. Deficiencies may cause many problems from poor memory to appetite disorders and severe metabolic challenges.
I do not believe in a one size fit all approach, and to date, I have not come across any dietary revelation that will suit everyone's nutritional needs
Many of my clients are referred to my practice from general practitioners or specialists who believe in a holistic approach, treating the symptoms with medication and treating the root cause of the problem, often resulting from an inadequate diet and sedentary lifestyle.
On many occasions, chronic medication is unnecessary, and remission or cure can be expected if a lifestyle change is maintained.
I do not believe in a one size fit all approach, and to date, I have not come across any dietary revelation that will suit everyone's nutritional needs. As we all differ in DNA, we will also have individual needs when it comes to nutrition. I also believe that the best diet is the one that is sustainable in the long run, incorporating the golden rules, and let's say sprinkled with a touch of your preferences. There does not exist a thing as you should never eat that. But understanding the impact and effect certain meals may have on your body will put specific foods in a "feast" category, meaning that we may have them on the table for an occasion or tradition but not part of our weekly menu.
As we all differ in DNA, we will also have individual needs when it comes to nutrition.
When I assess my clients, I will take many things into account before recommending a dietary pattern or approach. Taking a holistic approach to better health involves assessing family history, current diagnosis, supplements and medication, lifestyle habits, sleep cycles, exercise, nutritional challenges, food allergies, sensitivities, dislikes and deficiencies.
Do not follow a diet, choose to better your lifestyle and make long term adjustments that will add quality and years to your life. Refrain from treating and look to healing!
